Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Meet Heidi, founder of Loba Mane. Heidi was raised in Colombia and growing up she was constantly being influenced by the beauty community. Her family owned a hair salon, so she was surrounded by many people who would relax their natural curls. From an early age, this instilled into her that having curly hair wasn’t something she should embrace. She found herself constantly damaging her hair while using hot tools, relaxers and chemical treatments to make her hair straight.

Straight hair in many Latinx households was seen as desirable and it was the standard of beauty everyone tried their best to achieve. But at what cost? Damaging your hair? Lowering your self esteem? So Heidi decided it was time to break free from this mindset. She wanted to develop a healthy relationship with herself and her hair.

Heidi turned to the side with her curly hair showing.

Through self-reflection she realized your hair should empower you, not hinder you. She wanted to embrace her natural curls, but to also not feel guilty dyeing it or using hot tools when she wanted to.

So she decided to create Loba Mane. Loba Mane is an organic hair care brand that is formulated with natural ingredients like buriti, tucuma and coconut. Our products are completely vegan and free from harmful chemicals like parabens, silicones, petrochemicals, mineral oils, SLS and phthalates. Our packaging is also 100% recyclable.

Heidi’s mission was to provide a safe space where people can express themselves through their hair without worrying about damage. Whether you’re embracing your curls or adding a splash of color to your hair, Loba Mane is here to support you in your journey.

This Hispanic Heritage Month we encourage you all to embrace the richness of Latinx culture. Support a locally owned Latinx business, like a bodega near you.
